The Second Wedding Night

Set in Puglia, Southern Italy, immediately after the end of World War II, the somewhat unbalanced and melancholic Giordano is left with the dangerous occupation of demining the local fields of Torre Canne. He lives with his two elderly aunts. The rhythm of the family’s life changes when Giordano's widowed sister-in-law, Liliana, and her son Nino, move into Giordano's farmhouse in Puglia. Liliana was forced to leave her home town Bologna because of financial hardship. The arrival of these guests awakens bitterness in the two elderly aunts, Santina and Eugenia, who bear an intense grudge against Liliana's family. As for Giordano, who had been madly in love with Liliana in his youth, the new presence in his house wreaks havoc on his fragile life.
